The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University ensure to bring together rising leaders from around the globe who are committed to finding solutions to challenges in their communities, countries and the world at large.
During the course of an academic year, the Obama Foundation applicants will be opportune to in-depth knowledge and skills in order to build new capacities and networks that will accelerate their influence in their local countries. Scholars participating in a required course, which will be run for the length of an academic year, along with additional courses offered by Columbia University that are related to their particular discipline or values-based leadership, or that is in line with their previous studies. The program also offers unique opportunities for engagement that come with being at one of the world’s most worthy place of research and with being in New York City.
Furthermore, Scholars will participate in unforgettable experiences led by the Obama Foundation, which include robust networking, service activities, mentorship and values-oriented leadership development, presenting them a chance to learn from some of the world’s leading innovative leaders and to build links with the Obama Foundation and her Scholars at the University of Chicago.
One of the Columbia World Projects is Obama Foundation Scholars at Columbia, which encourages a new initiative that aims to methodically bring research out of university into the world in the form of projects that will have a noteworthy and lifelong positive impact on people’s lives and will help monitor the solutions to intractable problems, while as well enriching research and scholarship.
After completing the program, Obama Foundation Scholars, invested by their experience, are expected to return to their home countries where they have been working and continue on their service path, either through their permanent job or voluntary opportunities. The main aim of the program is to help Obama Foundation Scholars make use the connections and skills they have obtained during the program and apply them for the benefit of their communities and countries. It is the expectation of Obama Foundation that their Scholars will remain engaged with the Obama Foundation after the end of the program.

The Obama Foundation Scholars Program are in pursuit of supporting collaborative, dynamic, rising leaders from around the globe in an inventive one-year academic experience.
The Obama Foundation Scholars Program will also make available for rising young leaders around the globe who are already breaking new rut in their communities the opportunity to take their course to the next stage through a newly designed program that brings together academic, skills-based, and hands-on learning. The Program seeks to empower individuals with a proven commitment to serve with the tools they need to make their efforts more effectual, to identify ground-breaking solutions to complex problems facing the world, and encourage change through values-oriented leadership.
The Obama Foundation Scholars program gives emerging young leaders around the globe who are already doing something unusual in their communities the opportunity to take their work to the next phase through a newly designed program that brings together skills-based, academic, and practical learning at the University of Chicago and Columbia University.
The program is designed to build lasting relationships among rising leaders who are committed to working cooperatively to solve the most overwhelming problems of our time, creating a universal network that cut-across issues and borders. Upon completion of the program, Obama Foundation Scholars will return to their communities and continue the work they started in the program by implementing their own personal action plan. They will also have an opportunity to be part of the cause in the Obama Foundation’s efforts to inspire, train, and connect rising leaders from around the globe.
Eligibility For Obama Foundation Scholars Program
The Obama Foundation Scholars Program seeks a various troop who represent a number of backgrounds including those working in government parastatal, the private sector, and NGOs and civil society organizations. Leaders of organisations may apply to both the Columbia University and the University of Chicago Scholars programs.
The Columbia University Obama Foundation Scholars Program pursues to bring rising leaders from around the world together those who meet the following criteria:
To be qualified you must have a proven commitment to service and lead within a community, region, or country outside the United States, coupled with a commitment to return to their communities after completion of the Program and put-to-use their heightened training, skills, and connections on a long-term basis for the benefit of these communities going forward.
Emerging leaders who have made meaningful contributions to their field and are now at a “tipping point” in their careers are eligible to apply.
Students applying must be proficient in English (verbal and written).
Applicant must have the ability and disposition to positively shape the future of their society.
Applicant must have the following characteristics: humility, integrity, inclusivity, stewardship, fearlessness, imagination, and teamwork.
